Free Hacks for Kids' Benefit

Bedroom Door Accessibility Hack enabling my older daughter, who was 13 months at the time, to open and close her bedroom door at will.

The best thing about this hack was how cheap and easy it was before I started adding bells and whistles. This hack promotes independence and self-reliance and enhances your child's confidence. It doesn't require any modifications to your home (so it's rental-compatible) and is absolutely reversible.

Walker Early-Access Hack which made it possible for my four-and-one-half month old daughter to reach the floor when in her walker. Before I performed this hack, she was obviously developmentally ready for a walker (note: not all babies are ready for walkers at that age; my elder daughter was not) but was unable to reach the ground. This hack gives her the opportunity to practice her locomotive skills and learn about some simple physics processes that she'll need to take advantage of for the rest of her life. I'm especially proud of this work because it's very tough and it involved a lot of hands-on, practical engineering.
